As a young professional black man, I had the tools that I needed to navigate life’s challenges but did not know how to utilize all of them. Ms. Foster taught me how to use the tools in my arsenal by providing homework assignments that helped me realize who I am and who I am meant to be.</image:title>

      <image:title>Word of The Week</image:title>
<image:caption>ReMIX The word remix evokes thoughts of possibilities, enhancement — improving; things being different but the same. In music, when the MC or the deejay yelled “ReMIX” the song was taken to a new level! Albeit, the lyrics, notes, and/or beat remained the same, the remixed song had a different tempo, instruments added or removed, and the beat noticeably manipulated. Nonetheless, the words remained the same. Although the voice may have been enhanced (reverberated), slightly altered (falsetto, bass, alto, or soprano), the message, and the meaning remained identical. There are times when it will not be necessary to change directions or alter your goals. Rather, a remix is warranted. Accordingly, the ability to move forward does not always require a new plan, altering goals and/or dreams. Wayne Dyer stated, “Change the way you look at things, and the things you look at change.” In essence, altering your perspective can bring about the desired results. Is the glass half-full or half-empty? Thus, as you face your next roadblock, change how you look at the situation, task, and/or dilemma. In addition to accomplishing your goals changing one’s perspective also broadens and expands one’s frame of reference. It is never too late! Is it too late, never! ReMIX</image:caption>

      <image:title>Word of The Week - REFRESH</image:title>
<image:caption>What does it mean, furthermore, how often and when should individuals refresh? Regarding the former, the prefix “re” means: To do again, to repeat. And, the term “fresh” means: Not spoiled or stale; just made; bright; clean; recent; not known before. As it pertains herein refresh is defined as To make fresh again; to revive. Forward, as well as upward mobility, require one’s ability to willingly refresh thoughts, intent, and behavior. In that, life itself naturally has the tendency to lull one into a state of complacency, contentment, and/or comfort the likelihood of losing momentum exists. Accordingly, the passion experienced at the onset of any fulfilled desire tends to wane, if not revisited. More often than not when the desired is acquired it’s viewed as the destination, rather than merely part of the journey. Unfortunately, when what was once new becomes familiar, the excitement lessens and the thrill of it all just fades. The foregoing is inevitable unless one remains intentional; unless one remains involved. Thus, periodic reminders of WHY may ensure the WHAT can and will be maintained! Just as you reboot, hit escape, or refresh a page electronically, the next time you feel off-balanced, stuck, or immobile make things bright by doing something that hasn’t been done! Remember the WHY (purpose) in order to revive, and refresh the WHAT (goal, experience). Enjoy the jOURney!</image:caption>

      <image:title>Word of The Week - FLATLINE</image:title>
<image:caption>Flatline means – fail to increase, remain static, inactive motionless. As It pertains to circumstances, situations, dilemmas, quagmires and/or decisions, you may feel as though you have flatlined. As I have learned changing one’s perspective. Changes one’s situation. Accordingly, flatlining is merely an opportunity to start over. It signifies an even playing field, going back to square one, and that a do-over is possible. In life, just as with a home that has been outgrown, the tendency is to “fix-up”, remodel, update and upgrade rather than level it to the ground – to simply “flatline”. Unfortunately, more often than not true desires are not fulfilled by modifications; they are merely placated and pacified. What in your life deserves to be flatlined in order for you to reboot, refresh, renew, revamp and/or realign? Enjoy the Journey</image:caption>

      <image:title>Word of The Week - My WHY………is for Me!</image:title>
<image:caption>Ponder the foregoing, really contemplate what’s implied. Seriously. Think about it…..my why is for me? More often than not choices made, decisions rendered, and paths taken are questioned by others. Although decisions, no matter how significant or minor are personal, others may not understand or realize how much introspective thought, research, reasoning and/or prayer was actually relied upon. So, before someone asks why, we must first ask ourselves, in that, our actions should be results-driven. Accordingly, the consequences and/or rewards are based on said actions — not our thoughts or the opinions of others. Ultimately, albeit we do not have to explain our “whys” to anyone, the inquiry of loved ones should serve as validation rather than reproach or slight reproof. In closing, embrace your “whys” as they belong to you; I have finally unapologetically owned mine! Enjoy the Journeys</image:caption>

      <image:title>Word of The Week - Gratitude…..Really?</image:title>
<image:caption>As the day set aside to give thanks, in these United States of America, is swiftly approaching, what are you grateful for………really? What does it mean to be thankful? Just as the word love, is used without thinking, saying thanks or I’m grateful is often expressed glibly. Unfortunately, words—which should be meaningful, impactful—may not be valued as such. As previously noted, the word “love” is a great example as it is used for any and everything, from apps to zoology (A to Z). And, sadly the same word (in the English language) is used to express one’s deepest feelings, and confusingly it’s various stages of affection! Accordingly, what does it mean to be grateful, have gratitude, give thanks? Are you/we ever truly grateful? Why are you and I thankful? Is being thankful the same as being content? Or, is being satisfied, being content merely a myth, a fleeting emotion that you/we are forever chasing? Is one to only be thankful when one is content/satisfied? Realistically, being grateful, expressing gratitude and giving thanks is separate, has nothing to do with being satisfied; being content. The former (for me) involves understanding that everyday necessities, relatively good health, a sound mind and the ability to live independently are reasons to be grateful. Contrarily, the latter (for me) involves being intentional in walking out, living and truly enjoying that for which to be thankful. It is learning that in some situations not having, lacking, or going without are reasons to be grateful. My mother often told me “the world owes you nothing”. I eventually understood this to mean that my sense of contentment and attitude of gratitude was on and within me. Accordingly, I am, just as you are responsible for how we opt to live; grateful and content or NOT! Meanwhile, when looking toward the future, take time to live in the present. Take time, as it is said “ to smell” the roses! When anything, to paraphrase Murphy’s Law, can go wrong and does, find that nugget, that gem, that something for which to give thanks. Every new day is a blank canvas, a “do-over” of sorts; another opportunity to move toward that goal, or to walk away from something in order to reach your potential. In every situation, I am learning that an attitude of gratitude and choosing to be content produces more desired results! Enjoy the Journeys!</image:caption>

<image:title>Word of The Week - Change The Way You Look At Things</image:title>
<image:caption>When you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change; although incorrectly quoted, the foregoing statement significantly impacted my life. Wayne Dyer actually stated, “Change the way you look at things and the things you look at change.” Nonetheless, my slight misquoting by no means alters or detracts from the intent of the statement. In essence, it is all about perspective. Everything that is — is really based on the individual’s PERSPECTIVE. Utilizing this concept I state to you: In life, is NEVER too late! REMIX: Is it too late? NEVER in life! In either case, only you can determine how you think, respond, speak (tone, context, and content), and act!</image:caption>
